PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The goal is to read 1,000 books together (repeating books counts!) before your child starts kindergarten. It might sound like a lot, but if you read just 1 book a night, you will have read about 365 books in a year. That is 730 books in two years and 1,095 books in three years! Get a special starter kit for registering, a sticker or pin for every 100 books you read, a free book for every 200 books you read, and something extra special for completing the challenge: pick out your favorite book to be displayed at the front of the library!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

  • Read with your child. Reading with your child provides a great opportunity for bonding and will create life‐long memories for both of you.
  • Keep track of the titles of the books that you read using the Beanstack app or a paper log. Don’t forget to count books read by teachers, family members, or a librarian at storytime! Download the app by scanning the QR code below.
  • At certain milestones your child will receive prizes! You can pick these up at the information desk and take a picture of your child and their milestone sign.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Who can participate in this program? Any child from birth until he or she enters kindergarten.
